How to Declutter Your Glovebox Without Tossing Everything

May 05,2025 | CosmoCarCo

Let’s be honest — most gloveboxes in Singapore have become the go-to dumping ground.

For everything from old receipts and random cables to takeaway tissues and expired coupons.

And if you’ve ever fumbled through a cluttered glovebox during a red light or tried to find your cashcard mid-ERP, you know how frustrating and distracting that mess can be.

But here’s the thing:

You don’t need to throw everything away.

You just need a system that keeps only what you use, stores it cleanly, and makes everything easy to grab when you need it.

That’s exactly what we built — using just 3 simple accessories.

Why Decluttering Your Glovebox Matters

Singapore’s roads are already stressful.

From stop-start traffic on the CTE to navigating tight carparks in the rain, there’s enough to focus on without the added chaos of a messy cabin.

A cluttered glovebox doesn’t just look bad. It slows you down when you need:

  • Your cashcard at the gantry

  • A mask or wet wipe after a meal

  • Emergency tissues when your kid sneezes

Disorganisation creates micro-stress — and in a place like SG, where every second counts, that adds up fast.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s ease.

Here’s how we fixed our glovebox mess — in under 5 minutes.

1. Card Holder: Only Keep What You Use Weekly

Problem:
Too many cards? Welcome to the club.

We had everything from old petrol points to expired vouchers jammed in there.

Fix:
A slim card holder lets you separate the must-haves (cashcard, petrol station card, emergency contact) from the “maybe someday” pile.

Keep it to 4–5 cards max — things you actually reach for during the week.

Slot the rest into a pouch or store them at home. Your glovebox isn’t a filing cabinet.

Why It Works in SG:
With ERP, gantries, season parking, and valet slips, fast access to cards is a must.

This holder makes sure you’re never fumbling under pressure.

2. Cup Holder: No More Spills, No More Shifting

Problem:
Our glovebox often ended up holding more than just paper — from drink bottles to extra coins.

And with every bump or turn, things rolled around.

Fix:
A compact cup holder turns dead space into usable storage.

We placed ours just beside the seat in the gap.

Use it to hold a water bottle, hand sanitiser, or even loose change. Anything tall and easy to grab.

Why It Works in SG:
Singapore roads are smooth but not spill-proof.

One sharp turn near a HDB multi-storey carpark ramp, and there goes your kopi.

This simple add-on keeps your essentials upright, steady, and within arm’s reach.

3. Tissue Box Organiser: Out of Sight, Always in Reach

Tissue Box Mounted On Sun Visor

Problem:
Tissue packs are everywhere — on the dashboard, on the floor, behind the seat.

And when you need one fast? Gone.

Fix:
We mounted a slim tissue box organiser right on the sun visor which makes use of the air space.

Not only does it keep tissues clean and dust-free, it frees up space elsewhere in the car.

Why It Works in SG:
Hot food, spills, kids, masks — tissues are a must.

But they shouldn’t float around like loose leaves.

With this organiser, they’re tucked away but always available.

Bonus Tips: Keep the Essentials, Lose the Rest

If you’re not sure what actually belongs in your glovebox, here’s a cheat sheet:

Keep:

  • Cashcard / backup NETS card

  • Tissue or wet wipes

  • Emergency contact or workshop info

  • Microfibre cloth for fogged windows

  • Small torch or penlight

  • Compact sanitiser or mask

Remove:

  • Expired coupons or petrol receipts

  • Takeaway sauce packets (yes, really)

  • Multiple carpark coupons (outdated already!)

  • Old cables or broken phone mounts

  • Extra masks that are already dusty

One golden rule:
If you haven’t used it in the past 2 weeks, it doesn’t need to be in there.

Set It Up Once, Stay Clutter-Free Longer

The beauty of these 3 accessories is that they don’t just clean up your glovebox once — they help keep it clean.

Every time you reach for something, it’s where it should be.

Every time you toss something in, it has a home.

Every drive feels just a little smoother.

And in SG traffic, that’s a small win worth taking.

Final Thoughts: A Clean Car Interior = A Calmer Drive

You don’t need fancy organisers or a total car makeover.

You just need a few functional upgrades that make sense for real Singapore drivers.

At CosmoCarCo, we test everything in our own cars before recommending them. If it doesn’t work for our daily commute — it doesn’t make the cut.

These 3 car storage accessories passed the test.

Now they’re part of our daily routine — and we honestly can’t imagine driving without them.
